This series of six talks, given by Krishnamurti in Madras in 1979-80, marks a departure from his usual style of exposition. Usually in the opening talk he would dwell first on the problems of the world and then on the psychological factors underlying them. But here he starts straightaway with the most ancient quest of man to find that which is sacred. ‘Man must have asked a million years ago, from the beginning of the time, if there is a reality, if there is a truth, if there is something timeless, something that cannot be measured by Man.

The Seed of a Million Years

These six one hour reads were very good and along the same lines as always, with the last chapter being very moving. The way he expands on our “inherited” knowledge and beliefs is fundamental in these talks. These talks were, I would say, his homeland “swan song”, and he seemed to be doubling down on emphasizing how important it is to know ourselves.

Attention!: I found the first “typo” in over fifty years of reading his works. Maybe the “foundation” hasn’t been using proof readers with a good foundation in English? Page 67, mid-page… “their” should be “there”. He wasn’t referring to anyone. He was using and adverb not a adjective. JRB
